NBN for Business

The NBN (National Broadband Network) is Australia’s wholesale broadband infrastructure. It reaches every Australian premise through one of seven technology types, each with different performance characteristics.

The seven NBN technology types

  • Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) — Full fibre to your door. The gold standard.
  • Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) — Fibre to a street node, copper to your door.
  • Fibre to the Node (FTTN) — Fibre to a street node, copper for the last few hundred metres.
  • Fibre to the Building (FTTB) — Fibre to a building basement, copper up the riser.
  • Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC) — Uses Telstra’s old cable TV network. Read the HFC NBN guide.
  • Satellite (Sky Muster) — For remote premises.
  • Fixed Wireless — For regional and rural premises.

To find your technology type, use the NBN Co address checker.
