Participation in the Digital ID Platform

Overview of the Digital ID Platorm

SIPcity participates in the Australian Digital ID Platform to support secure, privacy-preserving digital identity verification for eligible customers and transactions. This section explains how we handle your personal information in connection with those Digital ID activities in compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) ↗ and the Digital ID Rules issued under that Act.

Collection and Use of Information

When you engage with SIPcity services using a Digital ID, we may collect and process information such as:

  • your name, date of birth, and contact details;
  • unique identifiers (e.g. Digital ID credentials, tokens, or verification references);
  • verification metadata from authorised Identity Service Providers (ISPs), Credential Service Providers (CSPs), or Attribute Service Providers (ASPs); and
  • information required to verify your identity, authorise access, or complete transactions.

We use this information solely for:

  • verifying your identity through the Digital ID Platform;
  • enabling secure transactions and account authentication;
  • meeting our legal, regulatory, and fraud-prevention obligations; and
  • providing audit and compliance assurance to the Digital ID regulator.

Disclosure of Information

We may share relevant information with other Digital ID participants, including accredited ISPs, CSPs, and ASPs, only to the extent necessary for Digital ID verification or as required by law.

All disclosures are made under binding agreements ensuring equivalent privacy, security, and confidentiality protections.

Security and Governance

SIPcity maintains governance, risk, and compliance measures consistent with the Digital ID Rules and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), including:

  • end-to-end encryption of Digital ID data in transit and at rest;
  • strict role-based access controls and regular auditing;
  • independent monitoring and reporting of compliance; and
  • prompt notification and remediation of any privacy incidents involving Digital ID data.

Your Rights

You may request access to, or correction of, your Digital ID-related personal information by contacting our Privacy Officer at [email protected].

If you believe your Digital ID information has been mishandled, you may lodge a complaint directly with SIPcity or with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) ↗.

Retention

We retain Digital ID data only for as long as necessary to complete verification or meet regulatory obligations, after which it is securely deleted or de-identified.
