Call Check

Use Call Check to place a test call to a number on your account and monitor the call and its connection details in real time.

Call Check lets you verify that your number is externally accessible from outside the SIPcity network, and have detailed information to help diagnose and investigate issues with your phone number and calls.

The Call Check page allows you to place a test call to a number on your account and monitor the call while it is in progress.

To open the page, select Call Check from the left-hand navigation menu.

Place a Test Call

At the top of the page, use Check number to select the number you want to test.

Select Call to place the test call.

The page displays the current call status while the test is running. A message also shows when you can place another call.

Call Details

Once a test call is placed, the page displays information about the call, including:

  • Time: The date and time of the call.
  • Origin: The number the call originated from.
  • Destination: The number being tested.
  • Origin channel: The channel associated with the originating side of the call.
  • Destination channel: The channel associated with the destination.
  • Status: The current or final status of the call.

The page also displays the total time for which the call was answered and the total call duration.

Provider Result

The Provider result section displays additional information about the test call, including:

  • Status: The provider-reported call status.
  • Hangup cause: The reported reason the call ended.
  • Caller ID: The caller ID associated with the call.
  • Ring time: The reported ringing result.
  • Ended by: The provider or party reported as ending the call.

The information shown in this section can vary depending on the result of the test call.

Live Asterisk Channel

The Live Asterisk channel section displays information about the channels involved in the test call while it is being processed.

The summary shows the number of servers, channels, and bridges involved.

The server list includes:

  • Servers: The server handling the channel.
  • Origin channel: The channel associated with the call.
  • State: The current channel state.
  • Other parties: Other parties associated with the channel, when applicable.
  • Matched via: The method used to match the channel.

Polls

The Polls section shows periodic updates collected while the call is being processed.

Each entry includes:

  • Time: The time the update was recorded.
  • After: The elapsed time from the start of the call.
  • Provider status: The status reported at that point.
  • Server columns: The response information for each server.
  • Matched: The number of matching results recorded for that update.

These entries allow you to follow how the call progressed during the test.

History

The History section displays previous test calls.

Each entry includes:

  • From: The originating number.
  • To: The destination number.
  • Time of call: The date and time of the test.
  • Live Asterisk channel: The channel information recorded for the call.
  • Status: The result of the test call.

Select a history entry to review its available call details.

Call Flow

You can also click Call Flow to view that number’s flow, including SIP peering settings and which features it uses, which have different priorities.
